Embracing our Journey
ANGEL BROWNLEE
Welcome! I’m so glad you are here.
I am a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Reiki Master Teacher, End of Life Doula, and Pain Care yoga practitioner. I have worked in the field for nearly 20 years and am dedicated to sharing the benefits of yoga therapy with care partners: individuals who are either giving or receiving care.
Together with my husband, Brandyn, I founded Temple Road Journey for the purpose of empowering individuals with physical, emotional and spiritual tools, especially those caring for a loved one.
As a yoga therapist, I have worked in numerous settings including: yoga studios, rehab clinics, hospice and assisted living centers, online, and in-person. I feel called to this work, and as such have a unique insight into the needs and challenges that care partners face, especially those dealing with pain, grief, and burnout.
Through the guidance of my mother, from an early age, I established a connection to the power of hands-on-healing and prayer. In 2004, I heard about Reiki and was intrigued to learn more and reignite the passion I once had for the gift of healing. I completed Reiki 1 in 2004, Level 2 in 2006 and became a Reiki Master on Easter Sunday 2016.
The influence of my Reiki Master Teacher, Lesley Mulvihill has inspired me to trust intuitive guidance and allow divine wisdom to teach me. I am deeply grateful for my yoga teachers: Michelle Andrie, Kira Sloane, Erich Shiffmann and Ravi Ravindra.
I have specialty training in Pain Care Yoga, trauma sensitive yoga, yoga for addiction recovery and restorative yoga. I am a developer and leader of trauma-sensitive yoga classes, 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, yoga therapy retreats, and a private trauma yoga therapy group. I currently provide group and private yoga therapy to a growing population in the DFW community.
BRANDYN BROWNLEE
“It is a calling to be a full-time caregiver. It has been the most rewarding and challenging experience of my life! In many cases, I have been on call 24 hours a day, five days a week, for the past 25 years. I have spent countless hours doing anything necessary to insure my patient is getting the best care possible. Along the way, I have learned it is an absolute necessity to make time for self care. This work requires an enormous amount of physical, emotional and spiritual stamina. Without creating time and space in my schedule to reset and re-energize, I would have burned out years ago. Understanding and taking care of my body, mind, and spirit allows me to perform at my highest level. That is why my wife, Angel and I are so passionate about sharing what we have learned with other caregivers and care partners.” ~ Brandyn Brownlee, co-founder Temple Road Journey
Brandyn began his career in care more than 25 years ago. As an MRI technician, his understanding of anatomy and attention to detail were valuable, but he was highly sought after for his excellent patient care and his ability to help patient’s feel safe and comfortable. He has provided care during pre op, post-op, and recovery through a liver transplant, open heart surgery, and joint replacements. He has also dealt extensively with care for liver disease, pulmonary disease, heart disease, addiction recovery, mental illness and end-of-life care.
Brandyn’s faith is the cornerstone of everything he is able to give in the way of care. He became an ordained minister in 2009 to bring additional spiritual care to those he serves. He is also a Reiki Practitioner offering the benefits of this healing modality, especially near the end of life.
As a former collegiate and pro football player, from an early age he has always understood the importance of physical fitness. His father taught him and his brothers the value of hard work. His mom worked as a Registered Nurse in Texas for 57 years before retiring at age 79. Both his parents taught him to be disciplined, dependable and to have a strong sense of duty. Brandyn has studied martial arts for many years and holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
